The ongoing trial of Aung San Suu Kyi demonstrates Burmese military Juntas intention of using every weapon in its armory to prolong its rule and prevent the establishment of popular democracy. As if waiting to strike, the Junta extends Suu Kyis about to end detention on June 19 and puts her on trial for breaking the terms of her house arrest, thereby removing its most dangerous opponent from the political arena as the 2010 elections near. As the international community remains a mute spectator to the events unfolding in Burma, the generals would be seeking legitimacy through ballot something viewed as a sham process already. The military is destined to win, and one fails to see any sign of ease in this repressive political climate. Equally destined is Aung San Suu Kyis continuation as the beacon of democracy for many millions suffering at the hands of repressive Junta.
